also due to the mechanical system it has to do the same dmg everythime. ("on regular bow you have to pull longer for more dmg" - her the contraption does the firing by itself)

There are already 5 types of bow.
Your idea is basically the Hornbow:
Less speed, more damage.

But it's still not that same as the hornbow.

You speak of a Compound Bow, first patented in 1967.
Several centuries after the time line of this game
Thanks for playing.

Maybe a crossbow?
Wouldn't happen for GW1 but GW2... maybe?

What if you use Punishing Shot and Savage Shot? It turns the attack speed to nothing for 2 skills :P

Umm Orange_Milk, if you think GW is set in any real timeline... seek mental help
Also Orange_Milk, the bows the OP is talking about are NOT a compound bow. Compound bows are bows that are made with two different pieces of wood fused together (thus the "compounded" part of the compound bow). A suppler piece on the inside and a more rigid piece on the outside allows for more flexibility of the shaft and a stronger release. I'm pretty sure they've been around for a few hundred years.
And Puppeteer, don't randomly tack on things to other people's suggestions (especially bad ones like that which would either turn that weapon into a CC bow and never used but for show or something that is overpowered).
The bonus could be a bit powerful with crit barragers. A good idea none the less.
Anyway, even though its creative, I'm going to have to /notsign this. The bows in this game don't even have strings. I don't think a.net could properly impliment such a high amount of detail as a gear mechnism into the bow design.

I like the idea of crossbows. I've actually been thinking about that for a long time. Maybe regular crossbows and repeating?

HawkofStorms, for compound bows Orange_Milk is correct, it was patented in 1967. What you are describing is a laminated bow and those have been around over a thousand years.

Ahh yes, I'm thinking of composite bows, another type of laminated bow. (very similar names).
Anyway, still stands that rejecting something for "timeline reasons" is a bad call. Besides, just say it was developed by the dwarves or the asura (who are more technologicaly advanced then the humans in GW anyway).

LMAO, HAHAHA
Yeah lets see my Bushmans is made of alluminum, and My Brothers Browning is made of, well, allumuinum, and I've NEVER gotten an alluminum drop,(ingot or otherwise) I'd say we are not within reach of this technoligy in the GW chapters. I don't think the "dwarves" have mastered the pulley systems in minute propotions as of yet.
I'm not saying GW has an accurate timeline I'm just saying it doesn't have space ships for a reason, just like there are no compound/"mechanical" bows.
Although the OP is technically correct in his statistics. A compound Bow generaly takes longer to fire as, thanks to the pullys, is easier to hold at full draw for aiming, and the arrow flies much faster and is more accurate than any other bow made today ( notice I said "today" not mid-evil times) However, such a weapon would not be any wheres near even thought of in the time realm GWs represents.
